NO NEW CAMERAS THIS TIME, BUT SOME GREAT NEW BITS OF GEAR.

With the release in the next few months of Sony’s new XDCAM cameras, it’s time to start saving. For a bit of a preview, read this review by a very excited UK journalist. READ THIS! 

I really hope that the XDCAM format becomes a long term workhorse for the industry. It’s especially interesting to see the new EX range; I think Sony have been listening.

              Canon  14x7 Image Stabilizer

         Great for helicopter shots, car to car, long lens               handheld, wind buffeting, any small random movement or vibration. Turn the stabilizer off and it’s a standard lens.

Canon  12x6.5 Wide Angle

Fantastic for hand held interviews, shooting inside tight spaces, big panoramas. Enough zoom range to use all day instead of carrying two lenses

Ikan HD monitor / viewfinder Yes, it’s made in China (I think; because it doesn’t actually say anywhere), but this is an impressive 8” screen.

Uses Sony L series batteries, and accepts  SD composite, S video, and component as well as HD component.

Now you can actually see what you’re shooting with a Z1 in HDV.
